Why mathematics is not yet dead?

Why is still math going on? not over?. Is math ageing too fast or too slow? Or even after 100 thousand years math will have same age? How do you do a PHD in math?what do you do? research? Do you invent new number? Or is it  just working on hard problems of calculus? Stop that multiplication table task learnt in elementary school as it is useless. Mathematics is not important - How is it still going?

The problem  is explaining, how is it still going? It becomes very technical, very fast. If we are to talk about current research and current open situations in mathematics it relies on technicalities like  proving PoincarĂ© conjecture, Richy flow, Riemann structure. Too technical to fast.

As year passes mathematics gives deep and profound sense of surprise, yes profound sense of surprise !!

The Mathematician is entirely FREE

Sullivan, John William Navin (1886 - 1937)The mathematician is entirely free, within the limits of his imagination, to construct what worlds he pleases. What he is to imagine is a matter for his own caprice; he is not thereby discovering the fundamental principles of the universe nor becoming acquainted with the ideas of God. If he can find, in experience, sets of entities which obey the same logical scheme as his mathematical entities, then he has applied his mathematics to the external world; he has created a branch of science.      Aspects of Science, 1925.
